Dharzy
Breed: Arabian Age: 37
No sooner had Sport’s body been picked up and taken away, we noticed that Dharzy was having difficulty walking on her rear legs. They just didn’t want to keep the 34 year old body up and walking. An emergency call was placed to the veterinarian and as she had multiple age-related problems going against her, it was determined that she needed to go to heaven and put her tired, elderly body to rest. What a beautiful mare Dharzy was, smart and kind too. She was the epitome of what a well-bred Arabian should be. Her bloodlines were considered royalty and she was, indeed, a royal horse. She will be forever memorialized in our 2011 calendar where she appears twice in the months of February and May. God speed to you too Dharzy. Your empty stall saddens me every day and that sadness is not getting any weaker as time goes on.

Original Story
DHARZY, a 37-year-old Arabian mare was brought to Heaven Can Wait to live out the rest of her life. She had been owned by the same family since she was 3 years old, won many ribbons and awards as a show horse, had many babies and of course, is now retired. The economy was the reason the family tearfully had to move her. Her caregivers are moving to Wyoming where employment was found after not working for over a year here in Paso Robles. Dharzy at her age and with the arthritis that plagues her would have had a difficult time in the cold and snowy winters. It is a great honor to have this wonderful and remarkable horse here at Heaven Can Wait. It is indeed a complement to be chosen to continue the care that she has received for so long that has kept her still going strong at 37.
